This is probably our most iconic bike! One of the most innovative of its time, the Radical + simply revolutionized the world of mountain biking by dominating downhill competitions in the 90s and thus elevating SUNN to the ranks of the most decorated brands in mountain biking history!
The next-generation RADICAL makes its grand return today in a 100% Enduro version! True to its downhill DNA, agile and fast on the slopes, this bike is first and foremost designed for performance, built to devour competitions. Are you ready?
Development.
Our R&D team has worked tirelessly to design this machine, which is as radical as it is versatile: offering both ultra-high performance and fast downhill performance, while maintaining the right level of forgiveness and riding comfort so as not to appeal only to the elite!
To achieve this perfect balance, we drew inspiration from cutting-edge technologies used in Formula 1 and MotoGP, adapting them to the world of mountain biking. Together with our partner Antidote Solutions, we developed a methodology using telemetry with ultra-sensitive sensors to measure suspension performance and optimize the bike’s kinematics and settings. And the result is worthy of a fighter jet!
Chassis.
The major new feature compared to its predecessor is its 100% carbon frame!
Our team has meticulously selected and tested the best Toray carbon fibers to find the perfect balance between unfailing rigidity and flexibility!
The result offers a perfect compromise between stability and dynamism, allowing you to maintain control and grip in all circumstances, so you can focus on your driving.
This new lightweight chassis with its agile and muscular design provides the comfort needed to ride fast without sacrificing precision in more technical sections.
Radical geometry.
This means that we went looking for the very essence, the deep nature of what makes a good enduro bike, by fine-tuning every dimension of the frame down to the millimeter:
• The open 64° head angle and long reach (435/460/485 depending on bike size) ensure stability and a high ability to engage in the steepest descents.
• The 77.5° seat tube angle provides an efficient pedaling position for accelerations and climbing obstacles.
• The reduced case height (345 mm) contributes to better stability in fast sections.
• The 445 mm rear chainstays guarantee a good compromise between balance and grip for better cornering.
Suspension.
Working closely with our partner Antidote Solutions, as well as the RockShox and FOX teams, we custom-calibrated all our suspension settings. Using telemetry with a bike equipped with numerous sensors allowed us, during many test sessions, to gather a wealth of information and ultra-precise measurements to achieve optimal suspension calibration for each type of terrain and each frame/shock/fork/wheel and tire configuration.
This high pivot point suspension, built around the famous single-pivot/rocker link system, has already contributed to the legend and renown of the RADICAL for years!
On the ground.
The Radical is incredibly predictable and quiet, absorbing obstacles without flinching, allowing you to reach maximum speed. It’s stable and efficient as speed increases and surprisingly comfortable. But the biggest surprise is its exceptional responsiveness for a bike of its size.
The Radical is just as effective at picking up speed while pedaling as it is in tighter sections. It’s a perfect compromise for an enduro mountain bike designed for speed.
